Sociable Weaver Bird Nest & Quiver Tree

Thanks and credit to
Namibian landscapes are littered with one very typical signature footprint. You’ll see huge community nests of sociable weaver birds either on Acacia or Quiver Trees in Namibia. They build large compound community nests, which is a rarity among birds. These nests are perhaps the most spectacular structure built by any bird. Sociable weaver birds build such big ghetto like structures that could be home to more than hundred pairs & belong to different generations of the same family. Many times the branches would fall down due to the sheer size & weight of these community nests. Not unlike a ghetto, these intelligent birds understand the strength of unity & tend to stick together.
