What you choose

Looking forward to making the world a little better in 2011 and wishing everyone health, prosperity and community.  You could not choose when or where you were born.  You could not choose to whom you were born or how you were treated as a child.  The dealer just deals and the cards are what they are.  So, don’t hold those cards even if it is a royal flush. You did not choose them.  Lay them down, walk away from the table and get to work on creating what you can choose.  The following may not be handed to you.  Can you create them yourself?  Work on it…

Serenity to accept things we cannot change,
Courage to change the things we can, and the
Wisdom to know the difference
Patience for the things that take time
Appreciation for all that we have, and
Tolerance for those with different struggles
Freedom to live beyond the limitations of our past ways, the
Ability to give and receive love and the
Strength to get up and try again even when we feel it is hopeless.

This is… really inspirational. To me, that sounds weird. I’ve heard things along these lines hundreds of times. Why should I find them inspirational now when reading them on some stranger’s blog? At any rate, thank you. It may be that if one just reads them enough times, one actually remembers them.
